NEW POETRY COLLECTION
THE WAYS IN WHICH WE ARE LIKE BIRDS is the third collection of poetry from Elisabeth Pike and was released in March 2025.
This collection speaks to what it is to be a woman today, with all the complexities of identity, childbirth, and body image, using some of the behaviours of birds as a framework: nesting, homing, preening, flight, and song.
The poems point back to nature as the constant healer. These grounded yet hopeful reflections on life will appeal to fans of Mary Oliver, Wendell Berry, and RS Thomas.
This new collection features several poems previously published in There You Are and Voice at the Window along with many more new, unpublished works. Buy it here.

*SHORTLISTED FOR THE KINDLE STORYTELLER AWARD 2024*
Jay is desperate to get off the island to find his missing mother, but when the birds come and the adults disappear, his only job is to keep everyone alive.
Murmuration is a startling YA dystopian survival story with a touch of magic from Elisabeth Pike. With high-stakes adventure and a tender love story at its heart, Murmuration will delight fans of The Hunger Games and the Gone series.
When the birds have a message, they will stop at nothing to get your attention.
And when a murmur rises and no one notices, it will grow and grow until the whole sky is filled with its noise.
The birds came, a whole skyful of them. The next day the adults were gone.
Fee, a mysterious outsider appears, but Jay is sure she’s keeping something from him. When she falls dangerously ill, Jay must decide whether he’s willing to face his biggest fears to save her.

Murmuration has been picked out of 4000 entries to be on the shortlist for the Kindle Storyteller Award 2024. You can read the press release here:
In the end the award went to J.D. Kirk for Stateside but it was such an honour to be on the shortlist and kind of incredible to be at an awards ceremony where people were all saying kind things about my book!

Over at Miners, my Substack, I write a weekly newsletter about the creative path and all of its ups and downs. I also write about spirituality, parenting, birds, migration, introversion, and hope.
